A shift in power, and yet no changes. Surprising? I think not.

Work has been ridiculously pointless these days. I ask you, Purgatorium, what good are all these crime-fighting organizations when we don't seem to succeed at all and there is no crime to fight?

In a place as hopeless as this hell, what is there really left to do? Wouldn't every human being strive for more comfort and safety? Then why do at least 70% of this place live on the lower level, where it isn't safe and housing is nearly worthless? Is it the will for punishment? Are you punishing yourself by staying here and doing nothing?

If there is any truth to the theories about the evolution of man, where are the people who try to work for a better tomorrow? Those who fight against the odds, just so they will achieve what they yearn for?

Everyone in this place has given up hope when it is supposedly human nature to strive, strive and strive. A hand smacking you down should only make you get up once again. Isn't that how man has managed to come this far in this universe? Trying to build. Trying to invent. Regardless of all higher powers that try to force you down... is it fear? Fear of God, that stops everyone from even trying?

I once knew a man who conquered that fear... who wasn't afraid to work towards his goal. Was he really the only one in this universe to have that courage?

Or perhaps, all of this is a farce. Maybe none of you are really alive here but merely images this hell has produced for me. My own personal hell. It does sound sort of lovely, doesn't it?

Oh, there's been crime. Unfortunately, it's too small for the big companies to take notice or care.

[identity profile] citrinitas-668.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Then that's worse. People declare war against becoming desensitized but no one actually cares when something happens? That's just pitiful.

[identity profile] citrinitas-668.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Tell me, where did or do those crimes happen? If the organizations aren't going to do anything about it, I would personally bring order into this mess.

...Do excuse Alle, he's been in a bad mood lately =x

[identity profile] covert-chord.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't act as if we don't notice or care. It's difficult with the small amount of employees we have to police a city as big as this.

hello, rubedo-substitute

[identity profile] citrinitas-668.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry, I rarely include Celestial Being in my train of thought. You don't count as a serious organization.

What does Soma say about you again? Right. Terrorists. No one would want to rely on that kind of organization in the first place.

[identity profile] covert-chord.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
We are not terrorists.

Soma. Tch.

So's Maku... D: *ducks for cover*

[identity profile] virtualunknown.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Pray tell, what precisely do you police?

I have publicly mentioned twice that my shop had been broken into twice. At least one more theft was mentioned. And who has stepped up and offered their assistance? Not Celestial being. Not White Fang. Civillians. So forgive me for having little faith in Purgatorium's companies. Could I have asked? Yes. But it is a shame that only the only attention any crime around here seems to get is the occasional murderer. And even that's rare.

[identity profile] covert-chord.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
You never said it explicitly, and with as many people there are in this place, things that aren't said in detail might accidentally be looked past. The last message you wrote that I've now come to understand was about your shop being robbed could just look like you were having a rough time there, to an outsider who didn't go through the comments there. You mentioned inventory, needing to find a guard, thought you were failing at a job. Where in there did it mention the theft?

This isn't a tiny city. We do what we can, but with the small amount of employees we have, we can't reach everywhere. We can help if crimes are actually reported, because again, we can't notice everything going on here. The reason we can go after the 'occasional murder' is because we know it's happening.

[identity profile] ex-regenera246.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
change takes time.

[identity profile] citrinitas-668.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe I'm not as patient as the rest of the people. Three months of being here and everything is as stale as ever. It doesn't really promote the feeling of 'change'.

[identity profile] ex-regenera246.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Three months isn't very long in the big picture, but I do know that it feels like forever. Change may not ever happen here, unfortunately.

[identity profile] citrinitas-668.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
That's exactly the problem, then. Why is everyone waiting for that so-called change and not trying to start it? Change doesn't just "come" when "it's time". Change is something humans have to initiate themselves. But I see how it is. Most here are afraid of the god that rules. Which is ridiculous.

[identity profile] ttlymostspecial.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Who told you evolution was supposed to be nice?

[identity profile] citrinitas-668.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't believe I mentioned the word "nice" in the post but do feel free to correct me should this be an oversight of mine.

[identity profile] ttlymostspecial.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, let me be simple with you.

If there is any truth to the theories about the evolution of man, where are the people who try to work for a better tomorrow? Those who fight against the odds, just so they will achieve what they yearn for?

Who told you that the evolution of man is about people working together for a better tomorrow? Because I think they may have been a little misguided.

[identity profile] citrinitas-668.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, my idealistic wording confused you. The point of this section is that evolution has always worked by man wanting something and working towards it. If you want power, you do everything to get it. If you want to fly, you'll find some way to do it, even without wings--man invented things to substitute for wings. That is all I'm saying.

Though people here seem to lack exactly that will.

How would you change things?

[identity profile] citrinitas-668.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
For one, something needs to be done about this ridiculus fear of god. Hiding behind the excuse of everything being smitten by the gods anyway is giving too many people the chance to do nothing at all. This isn't what existing is about, not even in this hell.

[identity profile] embracingly.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
People cling to excuses. How would you inspire so much courage?

[identity profile] citrinitas-668.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
By taking the first step, perhaps. Maybe it's my nature not to fear something people believe to be "god" as I was created to fight this entity. Even if this is a different time and place with different rules--I still believe that the core of the problem is the same.

Fear and excuses will lead the population here to become completely stale and hopeless.

Pointless speculation. There is work to be done.

We are all nothing but images. Everything is false; everything passes. There is no cause to fear anything. To be motivated by such base impulses is yet another example of the innate folly of humanity.

[identity profile] citrinitas-668.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about but, Cyrus, we need to do something. I'm not going to be able to sit still much longer.

...

That hat one of your pokemon brought to me, I think I know who it belongs to.

[identity profile] galacticboss.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
....I have been.... no matter.

Your point was that you wish for a leader to challenge the gods?

Hat? Oh, that. You can have it.

I'm sure not everyone has given up.
